Aurubis Finland Invests in Pori Production and Green Energy – Advancing Efficient and Responsible Industry in Satakunta
Aurubis Finland Oy is investing a total of €9 million in a new production line at its Pori site. At the same time, the company has transitioned to using only CO₂-free electricity as of early 2025 and is expanding its own solar energy production. These actions underscore Aurubis Finland’s commitment to regional industrial growth and sustainability targets.
€9 Million Investment Demonstrates Long-Term Commitment to Pori and Satakunta
Aurubis Finland Oy is investing €9 million in a new production line at its Pori production facility. The investment will enhance safety and quality, increase production capacity, and strengthen the company’s ability to meet international customer expectations. More importantly, it is a strong indication of Aurubis’ long-term commitment to Pori and the Satakunta region.
The new line is expected to be operational in 2027.
“This investment clearly shows our confidence in the Pori site and the expertise of the region. We want to be part of building a sustainable industrial future in Satakunta in the long run,” says Reima Mäkelä, Managing Director of Aurubis Finland Oy.
Approximately 95% of Aurubis Finland’s production is exported. The company is part of the international Aurubis Group, one of Europe’s leading copper producers and recyclers.
Transition to CO₂-Free Electricity and Solar Power Investment – A Step Towards Sustainable Production
Since the beginning of 2025, Aurubis Finland has exclusively used CO₂-free electricity at its Pori facility. The transition supports the company’s long-term sustainability goals and significantly reduces its carbon footprint – by approximately 5,000 tons annually.
As part of its green transition measures, Aurubis Finland has also invested in a solar power system consisting of 150 panels, already operational and generating over 34.5 MWh of renewable energy. Additionally, nearly all forklifts used at the facility have been replaced with electric models.
“We are systematically reducing our emissions while investing in energy-efficient and sustainable solutions. Our goal is to be a leader in sustainability within our industry,” says Miia Kiviö, Head of Quality, Environment and Product Development at Aurubis Finland Oy.
These actions support the Aurubis Group’s emission reduction targets, which aim to cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in half by 2030.
A Strong Signal to Satakunta – and the World
This is both a technological and strategic leap that highlights the company’s long-term commitment to Pori and the Satakunta region while strengthening its position in international markets.
Aurubis Finland exports 95% of its production and is part of the international Aurubis Group, one of Europe’s largest copper refiners and recyclers.
